The Annual Challenge has been announced and Challenge packs are now available!
Fabrics are Timeless Treasures Tonga Treat Pre-Cuts and Yarn is Yellow or Gold.
Challenge kits and rules were handed out during our June 2019 meeting. If you missed it, check with Osie at next month's meetings to get your Challenge pack.
The Annual Quilt & Blanket Challenge is part of our Birthday Celebration held every October. It's a great opportunity for our volunteers to try something new and showcase their talents to visitors and recipient facilities. Mark your calendars: This year's event will be Saturday, October 19, 2019.
Have a question about the 2019 Challenge? Email Osie.
Camp quilts have all been distributed for 2019. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to each and every volunteer for helping to make Camp Quilts and Blankets a possibility each and every summer!
Our final numbers were:
- Austin Sunshine Camps - 1,020 quilts and blankets
- Royal Family Kids Camp - 70 quilts
- Camp Braveheart - 100 quilts
Please remember: Paper Poems should include your first name at the top with the ribbon tied in a bow. Use a safety pin on quilts, NO safety pin on yarn blankets.
ALL blankets should include a paper tag with a poem and a sew-on Linus label (see diagram).
To qualify to order “Charitable Batting” from Hobbs Bonded Fibers, we are required to provide UPC labels
from Hobbs packaged batting.
If you are a quilter or know any quilters, please save your Hobbs batting bags or UPC labels and either bring them to the monthly meeting or mail them to us at The Linus Connection, P.O. Box 29491, Austin, Texas 78755.
Please also ask any quilting friends you know to do this as well. We really depend on this batting to fulfill our deliveries each month.
Our volunteers make hundreds of blankets each month to meet the need of children in crisis in Central Texas. To do this, many supplies are needed. We are constantly in need of washable 100% acrylic yarn. Leftover balls of yarn to full skeins are gratefully accepted.
Have yarn? Bring it to the next Linus meeting or leave it at one of our Drop-Off locations clearly marked for The Linus Connection.
Not from the Austin area? Email Jennifer for the best address to mail yarn donations!
We have enough quilt tops for the time being but will let our volunteers know when we need them again.
If you are helping with Weighted Blankets making pellet pockets, tops, etc., these go in the blue bin on the desk in the kitchen. Be sure to sign tops in on the Sign In Sheet as Quilt Tops.

Each month, we present a free demonstration of a fun and easy technique, pattern, etc. to inspire our volunteers. Do you have a demo idea? Please email Jennifer!

- August - Sewing Machine Maintenance with Dean Spence
- September - Disappearing Pinwheels & Hourglass with Lorraine
- October - Birthday Celebration & Annual Challenge
- November - Available!

Blankets were shown on Saturday, July 20, 2019. They are not necessarily being shown by the person that made them. Only a sampling of donated blankets is shown each month.
All blankets shown were donated to children in crisis in Central Texas.
We encourage you to join us at our monthly meeting and participate in Show and Tell.
