March 2018 Meeting & Show and Tell
NEXT LINUS MEETING
Saturday, April 21, 2017
NOTE: We're currently having some issues with our automated email reminders not sending. We hope to have those resolved before the April meeting. We apologize for the inconvenience.
It's time for Camp Quilts! We began our annual collection of Camp Quilts at our March 2018 meeting.
Please remember that our most of our camp facilities only accept quilts. Yarn, flannel and fleece blankets attract leaves and twigs. Camp quilts need are larger sizes for school-aged children, ages 7 - 17.
We collect quilts for Royal Family Camp & Camp Braveheart. We will also be supplying quilts & blankets to Sunshine Camps. Click each link to find out more about the respective camp.
During Camp Quilt collection, we will continue to provide quilts, yarn and fleece blankets for distribution to our usual recipient facilities.
Thank you to everyone that donates every month and for helping to make camp quilt donations possible!
To qualify to order “Charitable Batting” from Hobbs Bonded Fibers, we are required to provide UPC labelsfrom Hobbs packaged batting.
Our volunteers make hundreds of blankets each month to meet the need of children in crisis in Central Texas. To do this, many supplies are needed. We are constantly in need of washable 100% acrylic yarn. Leftover balls of yarn to full skeins are gratefully accepted.
Have yarn? Bring it to the next Linus meeting or leave it at one of our Drop-Off locations clearly marked for The Linus Connection.
Not from the Austin area? Email Jennifer for the best address to mail yarn donations!
Please turn your Pellet Pockets and finished tops for Weighted Blankets at the monthly meeting, Please note: If you are helping with Weighted Blankets, pockets, tops, etc. go in the blue bin on the desk in the kitchen. Be sure to sign tops in on the Sign In Sheet as Quilt Tops.
Making dull fabrics fun using 2 1/2" strips
Each month, we present a free demonstration of a fun and easy technique, pattern, etc. to inspire our volunteers. Want to share a Demo with our group? Email Jennifer!
Upcoming Demos & Presentations:
Blankets were shown on Saturday, March 17, 2108. They are not necessarily being shown by the person that made them. Only a sampling of donated blankets is shown each month.
All blankets shown were donated to children in crisis in Central Texas.
