December 2014 Meeting, Show & Tell

Happy Holidays to our Volunteers

We'd like to take a moment to wish a very happy Holiday season to all of our amazing volunteers. The Linus Connection depends entirely on volunteers to do what we do and every blanket is made with love. Thank you for the countless hours you spend making and sharing your beautiful work with the children of Central Texas!

Our December meeting included a special guest and very special treat: live Christmas music! BIG thanks go out to McNeil High School Junior and clarinetist, Gareth Ofenstein, for an hour of beautiful music!

We'd also like to thank everyone that brought treats to share. There were delicious offerings from many of our Volunteers!

New Paper Tags
Putting together packets of labels and tags for our volunteers to add to blankets donated through #TheLinusConnection. Meeting tomorrow with holiday treats and live music! St. Philip's in Round Rock 9-11 am! #blanketcharity #craftforgood
Starting this month, we will have a new paper tag for our Linus blankets! The new tags are a single piece of card stock, instead of two, as we previously used. The new label includes all the same information as the old labels, but you will now write your name at the top instead of on a separate card. Please continue to use up and of the two piece tags you still have.

Winter Warmth
The winter months increase the need for donated blankets greatly. Our volunteers work very hard every month, and we can't thank you enough! If we have even more hands, we might just be able to provide security and warmth to the children of Central Texas that really need it during this time of year. We ask that if you know a quilter, knitter, crocheter, sewing group or others that might be able to help lend a hand during the winter months and beyond, please reach out.

As always, we thank you from the bottom of our scrappy, pieced hearts for your support!

Pieced Quilt Backs
For those of you turning in quilt tops wider than 40" for quilting, please include a pieced back that is at least 4" wider and 4" longer than the top. It helps save our volunteer quilters a lot of time if they do not have to find or piece backs wide enough for the larger tops. Complete blanket specifications are here.
