August 2010 Meeting and Show & Tell

We had a busy meeting yesterday filled with lots of new faces. Thanks to everyone that came by, participated in Show and Tell, stayed for the demo and especially to everyone that lent a hand to get all the blankets labeled, sorted, packed and out the door on their way to their new homes. We had some wonderful thank you notes this month, so be sure to look for those with the Show and Tell photos.

New Board Members
The Linus Connection welcomes new Board members Valerie Monnat and Anne Ellison, as well as returning Board member Jennifer Ofenstein (2004-2006). More information about Board members and member duties coming soon.

Honey Bee Work Day

Austin, Texas 78729
(512) 257-1269

Join us at Honey Bee on August 28 for the next Linus Work Day! Quilt kits will be provided.  Bring your sewing machine and join in the fun! Please contact Honey Bee for more information.

October Challenge and Linus Birthday
The October 16, 2010 meeting will be Linus' 11th Birthday Celebration and Annual Challenge! You can get challenge kits at the next monthly meeting or by stopping by our Challenge Sponsor, Honey Bee Quilt Store. All Challenge blankets will be due by the October 2010 meeting. Please click here for full details.

Quilt Tops
We have a number of long-arm quilters than volunteer their time for Linus. When turning in quilt tops, please make sure they are at least 38" wide. This helps reduce fabric waste and helps the long-arm quilters spend more time quilting and less time loading quilts into their machines.

Name Tags

If you missed Saturday's meeting and you need a Linus Connection volunteer name tag, please email Jennifer. Your name will be added to the list. New name tags will be available at the September meeting on the sign in table. Name tags will be printed on standard business cards (3.5" x 2") and will not be laminated so you will be able to wear and/or update your name tag any way you choose. Here is a free, simple pattern from the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association for a name badge pattern.

Show And Tell

Blankets were shown and donated on August 21, 2010. They are not necessarily being shown by the person that made them. We encourage you to join us at our monthly meeting and participate in Show and Tell at 10 a.m.   A free demo follows.
